I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jerry Pittman and this is my wife Brenda. We have been happily married 27 years. We have daughters Jackie and Sally, and grand daughters Ashley and Chloe. We also have a new addition to our family, BeBe, our puppy.
I am a candidate for Dallas County Constable Pct. 2. This area includes the cities of Garland, Sachse, Rowlett, Mesquite, Sunnyvale, and Balch Springs.
Experience
I bring to you 37 years of law enforcement experience. I was with the Garland Police department for 25 years and retired at the rank of Lieutenant.
§ During my career there, I was assigned to the Dallas Area Organized Crime Task Force, where I was trained extensively in investigative work, surveillance, electronic counter measures and warrant preparation.
§ I spent several years in the uniformed patrol division and worked closely with citizens of this community on a daily basis in all types of activities.
§ I was assigned to the traffic division as a motorcycle officer and was trained at Texas A & M in advanced accident investigation and accident reconstruction.
I was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and attended the University of Texas at Dallas, Police Supervision Training, and was assigned to Jail Supervisor where I closely supervised all arrests and reports.
· I was eventually reassigned to the Patrol Division where my responsibilities included the daily supervision of my shift along with planning, organizing and scheduling daily assignments and training.
· While managing to handle all of these assignments I was also a team leader of the police dive and recovery team. We were responsible for recovery of evidence, underwater crime investigation, body, and vehicle recovery from area lakes. I was certified as an Emergency Medical Technician while on the team as well.
I was President of the Garland Police Officer's association for two terms. I received numerous Commendations for Meritorious Conduct and was a five time recipient of the Garland Optimist Club Officer of the Month Award. I also received the Garland Jaycees award for Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.
· I have been with the Dallas County Constables Office for the past 12 years and I have worked in the warrant division, civil division, and the traffic division where I am currently assigned.
Education and Training
· I graduated from Irving High School and attended Abilene Christian College and majored in Criminal Justice. I hold a Master Police Officer Certification and I have over 5000 hours of in service training through various agencies including, the Garland Police Academy, Dallas Sheriffs Academy, Texas Department of Public Safety Academy, University of Texas at Dallas, FBI Academy in Quantico ,Va. and Texas A &M.
· I am a Merchant Marine Officer licensed by the Coast Guard to operate commercial vessels offshore up to 100 tons and I am a Master Scuba Diver Trainer.
Military U.S. Navy 1964-1968
· I served aboard the U.S.S. George Eastman in the pacific. I was trained in seamanship and small craft operations. We conducted top secret tests related to chemical and biological warfare. I was promoted to BM2, and transferred to Coronado, Calif. I received additional training aboard the U.S.S. Bellgrove for amphibious landings. I was then ordered to DaNang, Vietman where I was assigned to the 3rd Marines and the Armed Forces Police unit during 1967-1968.
Organizations
· I am a member of United Methodist Church in Rowlett. I am a Life member of VFW Post 5076 in Garland. I am a Master Mason in good standing at Zavala lodge, I am a Shriner at Hella Temple and I am a member of the Scottish Rite in Dallas. I am a past member of the Rowlett Lions Club.
Why should you elect me ?
· I believe in our judicial and law enforcement system completely. I believe that the people of this community deserve the most qualified person to represent them.
· I believe that I am the most qualified person for the position of Constable. I have the experience, the training and the leadership ability to get the job done in the most effective manner. It will be my goal to serve my country and this community in the future as effectively and as honestly as I have since 1964.
